Wine Tasting Event: Thursday 15th May

Wine Tasting at the OGLETHORPE HALL, GODALMING
Les Amities Francises Godalming invites members to a TUTORED wine tasting of
FRENCH WINES led by Brian John (our Treasurer). He studied for, and was
awarded, the Diploma of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in 2010. He first
became acquainted, and fell in love with, French wine around 1968.
This tutored tasting will be held at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre, Oglethorpe Hall,
Godalming, GU7 1DY, on Thursday 15th May at 7.30 pm until 9.30 pm.
Brian will take us through a flight of 7 French wines from a variety of regions,
including Alsace, the Loire Valley, Languedoc, Provence … There will be dry
whites, a rosé, reds, and a very special sweet white to finish. We shall discuss
aromas, flavours, balance … there will be learning and enjoyment.
He has sourced these wines from three different wine merchants, two of which are
located in the West Country (Yapp Brothers was created by a wine-loving dentist in
1969). One wine was sourced from The Wine Society. Our committee member
Christine Curley has provided a red from the south of France (she knows the
winemaker). Bread and cheese will be served during the evening.
As we can only cater for a limited number of people, we are only accepting
members, and also one guest per member if required, to a maximum of 28 people.
If you would like to join us for this event, would you please request your place, by
email to our Secretary, at alan.liddle@mac.com.
