Berthe Morisot

Berthe Morisot est une artiste peintre impressionniste (1841-1895) issue de la bourgeoisie. Son style se caractérise par un raffinement, une légèreté et une douceur naturelle. Au cours de sa formation académique, elle fréquente Joseph Guichard, ancien élève de Ingres, puis Camille Corot et Achille Oudinot qui l’encourage à étudier la peinture de plein air. Amie de Degas, elle participe à la première exposition impressionniste en 1874. Cette même année, elle épouse Eugène, le frère du peintre Edouard Manet. Berthe Morisot, peintre incontournable de l’impressionnisme est aussi reconnue comme la plus triomphante aquarelliste de ce mouvement.

The presentation will start at 7:30pm but if you come early and/or stay late, you will be able to take advantage of the bar facilities. Alternatively, if you are unable to travel on the night, you can watch the lecture on Zoom (link will be emailed to you later).
